Jan Adams, although not born in Devon, was educated at Teignmouth Grammar School and later attended the colleges of art in Weston-Super-Mare and Plymouth.

On leaving college Jan worked as a graphic and point of sale designer before starting her own business producing hand made leather goods.

As part of leather goods business Jan began designing and making model saddles for the original family owners of Magpie Models. Helped owners with production techniques and organising outworkers for manufacture of various model designs.

Started fitness business for adults and children at local venues including schools and sports centres and undertook a number of classes herself.

2002 negotiated the rights for Magpie Models with intentions to return business to Devon roots. Organised initial research into market potential and created business plan to re-launch Magpie Models.

Jan is married and has two children.
