Hints on accidents
If your horse should have an accident (God forbid) or come unstuck, they
can be restuck with polystyrene (poly) cement, such as you get in model
kits. This glue slightly melts the plastic (so be careful) and causes the
parts to weld together.
If the seam becomes unstuck which may happen on
older models where a different glue was used. It is best to clean the edges
off i.e. gently scrape the edges with a utility knife before applying cement to both
edges, press firmly together and bind with a strong elastic band to keep in
place. It actually doesn't take that long to dry, but for full strength leave
overnight.
If your horse has body colour such as the light greys, skewbalds,
roans etc. rubber bands may damage the paintwork and in this case wrap tightly
with cling film around the body.
Noses should be clamped carefully with a small
elastic band or thin strip of cling film.
If a leg breaks, clean carefully as instructed before,
align the leg, apply light pressure on the joint and if possible stand the
horse on the broken leg and leave to dry. If not possible, turn the horse upside down and
stick with masking tape. Normal clear tape is too sticky. If paint needs retouching
use enamel paint, which is available from craft or model shops. |
